Great book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As it is mentioned by other readers, it is a must own and must read book for CFA candidates and a good reference book too.
good
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It’s almost new and good for reading.
It’s just a little too heavy, as it has a hardcover.
Sophisticated Text
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is required text for the CFA program and many business schools’ security analysis curricula. This is an excellent text for advanced/professional investors and is not intended for the average do-it yourselfer.
Good Contents for PM
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Actually I searched one volume that fully was written by specialist about Portfolio Managemnet in datail. I’m satisfying with these contents which Investment feature and controling Investment throughout step curriculum is good assistance.
After completing this PM, I may be able to master some portion/aspect of Investment Charactor. I would like to recommend as good reference.
The Investment Bible

If you are serious about the study of portfolio management, this is the only book for you.
School book which I never read
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I hate when professors make you buy a book and then don’t even reference it.
Caution: Paperback edition is Student Study Guide!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Watch out: the “paperback edition” is not the textbook itself,
it is a Student Study Guide. You may want both, but don’t
buy the study guide under the impression you are getting the
book itself.
Excellent compendium of theory and practice
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Whether encountered through an MBA equity analysis course or the CFA program, Investment Analysis will be an indispensable reference book for investment analysts, fund managers, and finance professionals for years to come. Although it is not an introductory finance text, it covers most of the basics. The book also delves on esoterica about derivatives, value investing, hydrid securities, and hedging. All in all, Investment Analysis is a good textbook that will be appreciated by academics, professionals and students alike.
Very thorough! The only real book on PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I would have given Reilly’s book a five (5) star if its explanation had been slightly simpler and there were key check figures / solutions for chapter exercises & problems at the back. The coverage on most topics in both “Investment” and “Portfolio” parts has been written in much depth supported by research from various well-known journals. I have 3 editions of this same book (1989, 1997 and 2001 – the one just before this edition) and each time Reilly has improved & updated it a great deal. This is the ONLY textbook which really examines the subject of PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT in detail (especially on bond & derivatives) unlike other texts which merely “introduce” the subject after covering the Investment Analysis part in some depth. Eventhough it is meant for those who have some knowledge of finance or basic investment, its comprehensiveness makes it a great reader for those who want to know more about the subject e.g advanced undergraduate in business. Excellent text for those pursuing MBA in Finance or CFA professional qualification but will require some asssitance in getting the problem figures checked. Overall, a fantastic piece of work; unfortunately not meant for self-study…
Prof. Reilly is awesome!

Good introductory book, but a little bit dry
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The book covers so many concepts in finance and investing, from stock, bonds to derivatives. Accordingly, it lacks the in-depth discussion needed for the advanced readers. No one can do in-depth analysis for all topics in just one book.
Although a little bit dry, this book is reasonably good for the beginners in finance.
Worthless…
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Some exercises at the end of each chapter can be calculated with somewhat simpler formulas than the ones in the book. The organization of the book is acceptable but it does NOT give thorough explanations by “showing” with example calculations. Therefore, ONLY FEW formulas are presented in the book. This book is not user friendly, especially for students.
Please remember…this is a textbook
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a textbook people. How much reviewing can be done? Obviously the teacher will choose the book and all of us will then be suckered into purchasing. It’s pretty pricey for the enclosed information. Certainly not worth the extreme price tag.
The Bible for professional money managers
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have read this book for my CFA review studies and for a security analysis class I took at the University of Notre Dame taught by Professor Reilly. This book is a must for those seeking a career in money management or those seeking to become highly educated on the topic. Extremely well conceived and written. Moreover, the book doesn’t exclude anything. Topics range from Options & Futures to Top-Down investment analysis. Regarded by investment professionals as the definitive source on the subject. Written for the higher educated reader in mind.
Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The book was in “brand new” condition. The price was well below what the college bookstore was selling it for. Delivery was a bit slow due to an error in communication, but once the item was received in the condition it was in, I did not mind the wait.
Excellent Book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The author using good examples explained the investment concepts and pratice method thoroughly. Excellent book to read.
Solid Book on Investment Analysis
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is an excellent book on Investment Analysis and one of the best books recommended by the CFA Institute for its curriculum.
I commend the authors for providing a solid foundation (chapters 1-9 on the Investment Background and Theory) before moving on to the heart of this book, namely security analysis (stocks, bonds and derivatives).
This book succeeds in teaching material in a variety of ways. Here are some things I appreciated:
1) Chapters begin by providing readers with an overview
Excellent chapter end question sets, many with CFA focus
2) Terms and concepts are defined
3) Formulas are presented, followed by practical examples
4) Investments are presented in a global perspective
5) Authors help the readers work through the examples by providing calculations
6) “Real world” situations and break-out boxes are used frequently
7) Authors get you think by asking questions beforehand.
A hidden gem of this book is found with the extensive references to relevant website links. The authors advise you on where to look for additional topical information. A great “value added” feature of this book.
The authors have also written a solutions guide to the chapter end problem set which is tremendously helpful.
What a pleasure it is to read this book – it truly deserves a 5 star rating!!
theory is middle but problm is fantastic!!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
this book is adequate to CFA exam. the theory is a little bit vague but the problem is good to CFA OR CMA exam
Great book to cure Insomnia

With over 1,200 pages of the same stuff this book is complicated to read, and not user friendly at all. However, it has some good uses: You can use it to exercise (as a stepper), you can step on it and change a light bulb (since it’s so thick), you can use it to stick it under the tire of a car when parked downhill.
Bland
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I am enrolled in a masters level quantitative finance program and we use this text for an intro class. I found the portfolio management sections to be pretty good and the bonds and derivatives sections to be pretty weak. Furthermore, the important information in the book does not seem to clearly presented; you really have to dig through the text to get the relevant points. I guess all the important stuff is in the book, it’s just hard to find. The book is big on theory and small on practical application. True, there are problems at the end of each chapter, but the chapters often don’t provide clear enough explanation of the concepts to solve them adequately.
Overall, it wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t great either.
Good product

The book came as brand new. Probably I have to mention that I bought it used. I used it for a class in MS in Finance.
The only thing better than the book is Prof. Brown’s class
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was fortunate to take investment analysis with Prof. Keith Brown at UT Austin. He is the best professor I’ve had in any subject at any level of education. While his excellent teaching skills cannot be conveyed entirely in a book, this is nevertheless an excellent academic textbook for someone preparing for the CFA, or for someone with an MBA looking to go into investment management. Tons of great problems and exercises!
Perfect intro
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It is perfect for an introduction, and shows you the way where to learn more
Excellent … two thumbs up!!!
